Modernization is changing traditions, mode of consumption and material life from old to new. To make all the non-Europeans modernized, they first had to overcome the influence of religion, since religion causes any society to feel a distinctive individuality. Religion postulates an exalted intellectuality to which everyone relates intellectually. If this intellect is crushed and humiliated, the one who identifies himself with it feels also crushed and humiliated. So native intellectuals began a movement against “fanaticism”. As Franz Fanon says: “Europe intended to captivate the non-European by the machine. Can a human or society be enslaved by a machine or certain European product without taking away or depriving him of his personality?” No, it can not. The personality must be wiped out first.

Analytical Muslim: Shiaa Misconceptions

the-art-of-protest:

Before we literally put Jaafari, Ismaili, Nizari, Zaidi, Alawite, Bahaaii, Druze, and Jahamis in one category, let us dispel a few misconceptions about Shiaa.

And before you accuse me of being Shiaa or Shiaa Sympathizing, no I am not Shiaa, nor do I believe in their…

I had a dream last night I thought I’d share with you as it has a beautiful message. I was reading an Islamic book and it said:

Allah said to His servant:

Ask Me anything you need. So the man said:

O Allah, I ask You for support in my affairs. So the man lost his breath and died, Allah revived him again and asked him the same question, the man said:

O Allah, I ask you for the breath of life and to support me….And this time the man didn’t die.

The message I take away is that we ask Allah for so many things, yet we forget that “He gave you all that you had asked Him.If you enumerate Allah’s blessings, you will not be able to count them. Indeed man is most unfair and ungrateful! (14:34)”. We forget we rely on Him for the very breath that allows you to read this post. We must not be negligent of our Sustainer - in the fullest meaning of that word.

Q:I didnt fast today, didnt know i had to and i cant read arabic very well but really would like to participate in todays special activities and to not miss out on this special night, could you please guide me? Jazakkallah

Salam,

The link has the dua transliterated. You can use sites like http://tanzil.net to listen and read Quran.

As this Salah is not wajib, you can read and listen and recite while having the laptop etc with you. You do 2 sets (like fajr) 6 times, in each reciting Surah Fatiha then Surah Qadr 3 times and Surah Ikhlas 12 times with niyya of rija and after all that is done, you read the dua and the ziyarat in the link. Remember to read surah yasin before sleeping.

As for not fasting, try to fast next year inshAllah. It is important to note that Allah likes measure in things, if one thing is missing or out, even by a bit, the amaal may not be accepted, however Allah is All Forgiving and All Merciful.
